Crudely built brick cells. |

The barbed wire outside the balcony kept prisoners from jumping to their deaths. |
Wooden cells. |
A torture device. The prisoner's feet would be locked into irons in the box and their hands bound on the sides. It would be filled with water and the prisoner would have to try and keep his head above the water to avoid drowning. The tap on the side made it easy to drain. |
A picture of Pol Pot is covered with angry graffiti. |
On the road to Cheoung Ek, our first ride in a tuk-tuk (a moto bike with a carriage attached). |
Our tuk-tuk driver bought us face masks to keep out the dust. |
A girl at Cheoung Ek asks tourists to take her picture, then asks for money. There were about 10 kids doing this -- the first one got us. ("One, two, three, smile!") |
There were small piles of bones throughout the site. |
The shrine at the killing fields was filled to the top with skulls. We didn't get a good picture; here's a better one. |
